Drug Screening Process

INTRODUCTION

Following proper chain-of-custody guidelines as directed by D.O.T. or non-D.O.T. testing, WTC Backgrounds and Drug Testing collectors follow simple paths to ensure consistent accuracy and prompt results for our clients. Give us your challenges and we’ll find you a solution.

D.O.T.

This procedure tests for five basic drug categories; following proper regulations as set forth by the D.O.T., the drug screening detects the illegal use of Amphetamines, Cocaine, Opiates, Marijuana, and Phencyclidine. The Results of the screening are forwarded to the Medical Review Officer (MRO) from the laboratory, confirmed, and then sent to you with a final result.

Non - D.O.T.

A more basic drug screening, non-D.O.T. testing analyzes urine samples for up to 10 categories of controlled substances to include; Amphetamines, Cocaine, Marijuana, Opiates, Phencyclidine, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Methadone, Methacholine, Propoxyphene, and Alcohol. All results are screened at a laboratory with positive results further screened. Results are then reported with a final result.

Alcohol Testing

Following D.O.T. regulations, WTC Backgrounds and Drug Testing will conduct a breath alcohol screen to register blood alcohol level. All screens will be conducted by a Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT). WTC also offers an ethanol test which can be added to any drug screen.

Random Selection

Random testing in the workplace is recommended to discourage the use of drugs by making testing unpredictable. This helps to identify current users so they can be referred for assistance and/or disciplinary action if needed. Annually the Department of Transportation requires 50% of CDL licensed drivers to be selected at random for drugs and 10% for alcohol.

WTC Backgrounds and Drug Testing, Inc. will provide your company with a random drug-testing program. Initially, your company will need to provide WTC with an employee list, which must include the employee name and social security number. WTC will then perform a random selection using our comprehensive software program. Having an unbiased program at WTC select the names will alleviate the problem of an employee feeling as though he or she was “being picked on.” Once the names have been selected, the list will be faxed to the appropriate company representative. At that time the employees will be asked to submit to a drug and/or alcohol test. For your convenience our staff will come to your location to collect the specimens.

ON-SITE

On-site testing is an efficient way to accomplish random tests for employees. The Federal Register (49 CFR Part 40) states that an employee must be paid “on the clock” during drug and alcohol testing. Since WTC collectors come to the workplace there is no inconvenience to your company and employees.

On-site services are also provided for post accident and reasonable suspicion testing. WTC collectors will come on-site to collect both breath alcohol and urine drug specimens.

The WTC staff is on call twenty-four hours, seven days a week. Whenever an on-site test is needed, a call must be placed to our office. The collector will immediately go to the designated location with all the necessary supplies to collect the specimen(s).
